01 — THE BASICS

What is Lace Wallet?

Lace is a non-custodial browser wallet built for the Cardano ecosystem. It gives you a place to manage ADA and native tokens, connect to decentralized apps, and delegate stake—without handing control of your keys to a third party.

Available for Chrome, Brave, Edge and other Chromium-based browsers, Lace was developed by Input Output Global (IOG), the engineering company behind Cardano. Your recovery phrase is generated locally and your transactions are signed on your device. Lace does not hold your funds or have access to your private keys.

Its defining difference is a deliberate focus on usability. Clear transaction prompts, staking tools and multi-account management make it easier to organize different parts of your on-chain life. Hardware-wallet support is there for people who want to keep signing keys offline while still using browser-based dApps.

✳
The short version

Lace is a Cardano-first, self-custody wallet designed to make everyday wallet tasks feel more understandable—not less secure.

02 — WHAT IT CAN DO

Useful by design.

The essentials are close at hand, whether you’re holding ADA or exploring Cardano apps.

01

Multi-account support

Keep savings, everyday spending, DeFi and NFT activity neatly separated. Each account has its own address, all managed from one extension.

02

Staking & delegation

Choose a stake pool and delegate ADA without moving it out of your wallet. Follow epoch progress and rewards from the staking view.

03

dApp connector

Connect to Cardano dApps and review each request before signing. Lace keeps transaction approval in your hands.

04

NFT management

Browse, receive and send Cardano NFTs from a dedicated collection view.

05

Hardware wallet support

Pair a Ledger device for an additional layer of protection. Your signing keys remain on the hardware wallet.

06

Transaction previews

Review recipient, assets and fees before approving. Custom fee controls help balance cost and urgency.

◎

Made for more people
Lace offers multiple language options, including English, Japanese, Spanish and French.

03 — YOUR SECURITY

Self-custody means
you’re in control.

When you create a Lace wallet, you receive a recovery phrase—typically 24 words for a new Cardano wallet. That phrase is the ultimate backup to your wallet. Anyone who has it may be able to access your assets, so treat it like a physical key to a safe.

⌑Back it up offline

Write it down and store it somewhere private and durable. Don’t keep a digital copy.

◉Verify every request

Review addresses, assets and transaction details before you approve a signature.

⛨Add hardware security

For higher-value holdings, consider pairing a supported Ledger device.

!

Watch out for fakes. Only install Lace from its official website or your browser’s official extension store. Check the publisher and never share your recovery phrase with anyone—not even someone claiming to be support.

Lace connects to the blockchain through network infrastructure, but your private keys should remain under your control. Always keep your browser and devices up to date, use a unique password, and understand each transaction before signing.

04 — FIRST STEPS

From install to on-chain.

Take your time with the backup step. It’s the most important part of setup.

01

Install the extension

Find Lace in the official Chrome Web Store or your browser’s official extension store. Check the publisher before adding it.

02

Create a wallet

Open Lace and choose “Create New Wallet”, then set a strong, unique spending password.

03

Back up your recovery phrase

Write down the 24 words in order and store them offline in a private, secure place. Never share them or save them in a screenshot, email or cloud document.

04

Verify your backup

Complete Lace’s phrase check to confirm your backup is accurate before you continue.

05

Add accounts and fund your wallet

Create accounts for different purposes, then send ADA or Cardano native tokens to the address shown for the account you intend to use.

06

Stake when you’re ready

Choose a stake pool in the staking area and delegate. Rewards become available after the relevant epochs.

Already have a Cardano wallet?
You may be able to restore it in Lace using your existing recovery phrase. Lace documentation lists support for 15- and 24-word phrases; verify current compatibility through official resources before importing.

05 — THE LANDSCAPE

How Lace compares.

Wallets are tools for different ecosystems and preferences. Lace’s strongest case is its Cardano focus, approachable interface and account organization.
